Summary: After an embarrassing secret is shared Charles accepts some help to learn a few things about female pleasure.
Warnings: 18+ only, nsfw, fem rec oral, sex ed
WC: 2.9k
Charles - The Lazy Lover - Leclerc. That was what the wag gossip pages all shared in their stories and Charles’ cheeks grew red with embarrassment as he read the latest caption. The supposed ‘inside source’ had recounted the disappointment his past girlfriends had found in Charles’ bedroom activities. They cited him as ‘vanilla’ and ‘a missionary man’, but none of those hurt more than the sentence that described his oral capabilities as ‘nonexistent’.
He didn’t think he was bad in bed, and he wouldn’t have called himself selfish, but he couldn’t help asking some of his exes for the truth. Each of them denied sharing the information to the gossip pages, but they all replied with the same consensus.
Charles chased his own pleasure and they didn’t feel comfortable telling him what they needed to reach their own high too. He felt guilty, wondering how many of the relationships would have ended differently or not ended at all if he had paid more attention - to their sex life as well as the rest. He certainly hadn’t been the most attentive in any aspect of his last relationship with Alexandra.
“Don’t laugh,” Pierre started the conversation seriously, something that immediately caused concern for Charles. “I know someone who knows someone that can help you. She’s a private tutor, of sorts.”
“Do you know how fucked I would be if news broke I went to a hooker?”
“She’s not a hooker,” Pierre assured him as he wrote an address down on a napkin and slid it across the table. “It's already taken care of, 8pm tomorrow.”
Charles looked at the address and sighed. “This is in Paris.”
“Of course, City of Love, my friend.” Pierre finished his coffee and rose from the table, pushing a pair of sunglasses over his eyes. “You’re welcome.”
“Yeah, thanks,” Charles mumbled, still uncertain about the whole idea of having a stranger teach him how to be a better lover. “I guess.”
Later that afternoon, Charles received an email with a rather detailed questionnaire about his experiences in the bedroom as well as a small dining and drinks menu to select from. He figured he couldn’t be any more embarrassed than he already was and took his time to honestly answer the questions.
—
Charles debated turning around at least three times as he climbed the stairs in a modern apartment building. He had caught a glimpse of the Eiffel Tower from the stairwell window and paused as the lights danced along the metal, wondering if he was in the right place. He was still in half a mind that Pierre had sent him to a brothel, but this didn’t fit the stereotype he had in his head of a Parisian whorehouse. He definitely imagined more Moulin Rouge lighting and seedy alleys.
He reached the 3rd floor and found only one door on the landing, his finger barely able to aim for the doorbell with its shaking. He didn’t know what to expect when the handle started to turn, but it certainly wasn’t a bright welcoming smile and the delicious smell of fresh baking.
“Hi, you must be Charles,” you greeted your newest client. “Come in, please.”
You could tell he was nervous as he hesitantly stepped inside and his eyes scanned your home, taking in the artwork on the walls and the candlelit table with two place settings. You tried to ease his mind with a quick introduction about who you were while you poured him a glass of wine.
“Help yourself,” you said as you took a seat and waved a hand to the fresh bread and cheeses he had selected from the menu. He took a breath and sat down opposite you, the candlelight catching the sharp jawline and angular features of his handsome face. “So, Charles, what is your goal? What do you want to get out of this?”
“I, uh, to be able to please a woman?”
“You don’t sound sure,” you teased as you watched him spread an olive tapenade over the fresh toasted bread.
“No, no, I am,” he said a little more forcefully before sighing. “I didn’t realise I was…bad…in bed, until recently.”
“Well, rest assured, we will change that. But first, tell me a bit more about yourself, there’s only so much I can learn from the questionnaire.”
—
Charles began to relax the more he shared. He knew he was protected by the NDA you had sent with the rest of the paperwork and the anonymity that came with baring his ugly truths to a stranger helped to ease the discomfort of what he was doing. He still wasn’t exactly sure what he was doing but your encouraging smile kept his words flowing, like he was finally doing something right.
He hadn’t realised how quickly time had passed until the grandfather clock in the entrance chimed the hour and he saw he had eaten his fill of the meal he chose.
His overnight bag still waited on the hall table, the list of what to bring had been ticked off and double checked. His calendar had been cleared for the weekend and his phone turned off. Everything he needed to remember could be jotted down in the small journal that sat beside his used cutlery.
“So, um, what happens next?” he asked as his eyes darted to the bedroom door.
“Whatever you feel comfortable with, Charles. Come,” you rose from the table and grabbed his bag, taking it to your bedroom as he trailed behind. His feet rushed before slowing down as he caught his own eagerness and frowned to himself. It was common. There was a blurred line between of uncertainty on whether they were here to get laid or here to learn.
You placed his bag beside the large desk that covered one wall of your room and pointed to the computer chair where he took a seat. “Every woman is different and there isn’t a universal button to make us come. But, by understanding the physiological functions and anatomy, I will teach you the tools to find the right spots to make her fall apart.”
“A-anatomy?” he stammered.
You took a step back and unzipped your dress, letting it fall to the floor and bare your nakedness. His eyes widened and he swallowed deeply as he drank in your body. A soft breath fell from his parted lips when you climbed onto the desk and spread your legs either side of him. “I could show you a textbook, but I find this much more effective.”
His throat bobbed as he tried to keep eye contact and the act brought a little laugh from your chest, forcing him to look at your breasts bouncing with it. “You can look, in fact that is exactly what this first lesson is about. Look, Charles.”
His eyes closed but when they opened he was staring at your core, his chest inflating with his deep breath. “Do I just start?” he asked hesitantly, wetting his lips with his tongue.
“Just look for now,” you said with a smile as you reached down your body. “Everyone has erogenous zones, places that feel good when stimulated, and these can be found all over your body, men and women. Thumbs, wrists, behind the knees, inner thighs, neck. Simply kissing and sucking these spots can feel just as good as foreplay.”
“Really?” he eyes widened in surprise and his eyes scanned all the places you had mentioned.
“Really, and I want you to find mine.” You bared your throat and relaxed back on your elbows. “You’ll watch for the physical reactions to confirm it. Deep breathing, moans, eyes closing, jaw slack, forehead pinched - they are some of the outward signs of pleasure.”
“Are you okay with this?” he asked as he found your bent knee the closest point to his lips and his tentative touch warmed your skin.
“I am, and I am pleased that you asked for consent.”
He smiled proudly at the praise before he lifted your leg and kissed the back of your knee, his eyes watching your face as he dragged his tongue along the tendon and crease. Your head fell back and he grinned. “There.”
“One,” you confirmed with a nod before he moved up to your thigh, trying the same thing with a kiss and a lap of his tongue. A giggle bubbled up and you squirmed away. “That’s just ticklish.”
“So not that one?” he double checked, and you shook your head. “Okay…”
The man was thorough and he made sure to find which ones were good for you and which ones weren’t. He paid attention to the signs and more than once he paused to jot down a note in the journal you had provided.
“You’re a good student,” you praised.
“I have a good teacher.”
You smiled at the compliment. “Would you like to explore lesson two tonight or rest? We have all weekend.”
His eyes gave away his answer before his lips did and you climbed off the desk. “Let’s start with the basics then. The first thing you want to do is make yourself comfortable. Craning your neck from where you lie between her legs isn’t comfortable and won’t encourage you to stay there if things take a little longer,” you explained as you moved into the bed and tossed him a pillow. “So, pop one of these under the small of her back.”
He looked at the pillow and shuffled forward. “Now?”
“Mhmm,” you hummed, lifting your hips up so he could lay it in place. “Two things happen here, one, it lifts her hips higher for better access which your neck will be thankful for, and two, it tilts her pelvis down and makes it much easier to work her g spot.”
“I thought that was a myth.”
“Why don’t you find out?” you dared. “Did you clip your nails before you came?”
He looked at the short nails and wiggled his fingers with a nod. He had followed every instruction in the email.
“Good, the last thing you want is to accidentally cut a partner with a sharp nail. Now the technique most people find effective is palm up, one or two fingers, gently work your way inside - it’s all about timing, take it slow and build to begin. Once your fingers are inside, curl your fingers up and you’ll feel the tissue is softer, almost spongy. Massaging pressure over that stimulated the g-spot, and if you are good at multitasking you can then add pressure from the outside too. Just place a hand low on her abdomen, slightly above the pelvic bone - don’t press too hard though as it will push on her bladder. First though, you’d probably want to start with warming her up with some cunilingus, eating pussy.”
Charles hopped off the bed and grabbed the journal, quickly jotting down the instructions with quiet eagerness.
“You can practice if you feel comfortable,” you invited when he put the pen and page down.
“Uh, yeah, please,” he stammered as he knelt on the bed and shuffled closer.
You reached into the bedside drawer and grabbed a bottle of lube. “I don’t need this,” you said and he smirked as he saw the other outward sign you had explained - arousal - it already lubricated your slit with the thought of what Charles was going to do to you. “But you should always keep a bottle at home. All women are different, some are drier than others no matter how aroused they get. Or, it’s handy for other areas of play like anal, or even a sensual massage.”
You put the bottle back and settled among the pillows. “Use me, explore, feel the different textures and I’ll guide you if you need it. Remember to look and listen to the signs of pleasure.”
Charles nodded and settled between your legs, getting up close and personal with your pussy. His indecision held him frozen as he wondered where to begin so you offered some guidance. “Finding the clit is a good starting point and then exploring around it to find the sensitive spots. Lick, suck, kiss, try it all.”
Encouraged, he laid a tentative kiss on your slit, his eyes rolled up to watch for your reactions. Seeing nothing, he took aim and tried again, his lip brushing over your clit and a soft sigh reached his ears. More confident, his tongue flicked out and caught your clit making you jolt.
“Was that good or bad?” he asked with a frown.
“Both, that spot is very sensitive - think of the slit at the tip of your cock. When it’s primed and ready that feels amazing but straight off the bat it is a little shocking to the system. You’re in the right area though, so keep exploring.”
This time he circled his tongue around and your moan was louder. You could practically feel his smile on your skin.
“That feels good,” you hummed as warmth spread through your body and he reached up on his own initiative, massaging your breasts. “Oh, you’re a natural now.”
Inspired, he explored further, his tongue lashing along your slit, dipping into your cunt. Your back arched off the bed with a gasp so he delved deeper, fucking you with his tongue as a familiar tightening grew in your core.
“Now would be the perfect time to try to find the g-spot,” you murmured as you fought the urge to succumb to the pleasure, but the lesson wasn’t over.
His rhythm faltered with a fresh wave of nervousness and he pulled back with shiny swollen lips to drag his fingertips through the mess he had made. The slick digits started gently, dipping inside your cunt a little deeper each time until it met the resistance of his palm.
“Feel around for the different textures and then curl your fingers a little.”
He did as instructed and his lips parted in surprise as he felt the spot. “Oh, wow, I’ve never noticed that…”
Your laugh made your pussy clench and he chuckled as your walls tightened around his fingers. “I like that feeling,” he commented with a flirty smirk.
“I thought you would,” you said with a wink. “I also do lessons on male stimulation if you’re ever interested.”
“Like…gay?” he asked quietly, a frown starting to form on his brows yet it wasn’t a look of distaste.
You were intimately aware that he still had two fingers curled in your cunt but it was good that he felt comfortable enough to hold a conversation at the same time. “It’s about learning the male anatomy, like what we did here. Whether that knowledge is used for self pleasure or with a partner, male or female, that is up to them.”
He contemplated the idea for a moment before he remembered what he was doing and began to work his wrist, curling his fingers in sync so they dragged over that delicious spot. He watched your sordid reaction with fascination before he grew bolder, his tongue finding your puffy clit.
“Oh fuck, yes,” you moaned loudly as your pussy tightened in anticipation. He had read your body perfectly and flicked the tip of his tongue over your clit but this time you were primed and ready. Your orgasm began with a tingle through your hair, leading to a fine tremor that danced down your spine, it raced down your legs and curled your toes. “Oh, Charles!”
He moaned against your clit as his wrist snapped forwards and back, the wet sounds of your body filling the room as his fingers fucked you through the explosion. Your cunt clenched and spasmed around the digits and stars spotted your vision. Your head fell back into the pillows with a cry and liquid gushed over his fingers with the release.
Disoriented and overstimulated, you reached between your legs and placed your hand over his. “Please, too much,” you whispered with a hoarse voice and rough aftershocks snapping at your thighs. “That was so fucking good, Charles. I, I just need a minute.”
You threw an arm over your head, your chest rising and falling rapidly as you waited for your heart rate to calm again. A small laugh bounced from your chest as you came down from the high and you finally had the strength to prop yourself back up on your elbows.
“That was perfect, Charles, you are a very quick learner.”
He was busy staring at his hand, your release coating his palm and running down his wrist. “So that’s what an orgasm feels like?” His brows pinched as he realised he had never felt that before.
“It’s what this one felt like. They can be different based on what areas are stimulated, the intensity, intimacy, lots of factors.” You could see he was still disappointed in himself for his previous ignorance and you sat up slowly, crossing your legs as you faced him. “Just because a woman doesn’t orgasm it doesn’t mean she didn’t enjoy the experience. Does a blow job feel good before you cum?”
He shrugged, still a little unconvinced. “Yeah.”
“See, forgive yourself and move on, now you know what to do for next time.” You carefully climbed off the bed on unsteady legs and offered your hand. “Last lesson of the night, aftercare.”
He stood up and froze, looking down at his pants. “Sorry, I kind of, uh, um…”
“Why are you sorry?” you laughed, drawing his attention away from the damp patch on his trousers. “You are meant to enjoy pleasuring your partner. Never apologise for that, Charles.”

This looks like a gorgeous home. It was built in 1997 in Oregon City, OR. 4bds, 3ba, $1.875.
A babbling brook at the front door. Ah, but the owner had a vision. Check out the inside.
The entrance has a floating staircase and 144,000 lbs. of basalt columns.
So, this looks like a water feature under the stairs, but I can't make out what's in that strip under the stairs. Looks like they decoupaged some magazine pages.
According to the description, the rocks were meticulously placed.
Mini cave to the dining area.
This doesn't appeal to my senses. A cool rock cave that leads to a bland, gray, dated dining room. Bleh.
The openings to the rooms kind of remind me of mines. In the living room there's a large stone fireplace and bring your trains, b/c there are elevated tracks hanging from the ceilings.
There's a mural in the dinette and a high open window to the kitchen, for some reason.
There are too many unnecessary stairs in this house. With all the natural elements, I don't know why they painted the family room rose.
The kitchen's nice. I like the counters. It's kind of angular, but I like the simulated brick oven.
You will notice that, for some reason, this home has lots of windows in the walls.
Here comes the train over the pool room. Reminds me of Mr. Rogers creepy ass trolley.
Is that real moss on the rocks?
This is weird. These stair railings are mission style. Look at the built-in drawer on the left and the little door. Some cool, but odd, features.
What is up with all the windows? This one in the primary bedroom has shutters. There's a lot of built-in furniture, too.
The en-suite has a glass block shower.
The basement isn't finished, but has a nice twig display.
Looks like there's a wood shop.
Large back yard with a patio, decks, and hot tub.
22.75 acres of land. This private road leads to an outbuilding.
This is beautiful. You could actually crawl inside that tree stump like some kind of hobbit.
Someone carved this tree.
This building has great potential to be a 2nd residence.
Gorgeous Oregon views.
The 22.75 acre property is gorgeous. Lots of possibilities.

tbh when you first joined, they didn’t know much about your hobby (being part of a specialized task force is busy yk?)
but it was revealed when you finally were granted leave and you discussed your plan upon your return home
“my first stop is going to be to cass art :)”
immediate cacophony of “you draw?” “you’re an artist?” “have you ever drawn us before!”
after a few minutes you quelled all of their questions (“yes, yes, and i literally joined 4 months ago and haven’t had access to a pencil”)
ghost comments, “make sense why you’re so good at stabbing people”
“god you’re so morbid ghost”
when back on base, you were shy to show you’re talents but you eventually relaxed the more you were with your teammates
eventually you began to bring out your sketchbook or paints out when you were relaxing after a mission or training session
once in a while, someone will tell you your work is amazing but if you’re in the zone, they’ll leave you alone
one time price accidentally left his mug too close to your paint cup and you ended up swirling your brush into it
queue a long lecture about how you should pay more attention (but who am i kidding that coffee is so strong he probably didn’t notice)
you humored soap and drew what you thought the real simon riley looked like
ghost snuck a peek and one of the drawings was surprisingly accurate
speaking of which, you may or may not have used your teammates as drawing references but you’ll never tell
gaz just has such angular features which makes drawing his figure so easy
mans looks like a walking drawing figure
it’s relaxing to let your mind wander and hands do the work as you fill a page or canvas
painting at home in your studio helps you to unwind from the grueling job
once, you sketched a few designs for gaz when he mentioned wanting to get a tattoo
“i don’t know gaz this is permanent” “i’ve seen your sketches and they’re amazing! just send me a few designs”
he landed on a cool watercolor piece you had made months ago
after your design, you would all joke about how you would redesign ghost’s tattoo
“Lt. that shit is heinous, just let me draw you a coverup” “no.”
while you don’t accept commissions anymore, you did gift your captain a painting of his favorite secluded lake scenery
he has it hanging in the foyer of his elegant flat
while you don’t really exchange gifts, everyone knows what they would get you
ghost has taken special attention to the brand of pencil you use and the gouache paintings that litter your quarters
everyone likes to joke w you on the comms
“hey do you think you could paint a picture with the blood of your enemies?” “jesus! soap…but yes i could”

Variations for Land and Sea Androsi clothing
These are the main ones. There are more variations for the Androsians that live on the islands on the planet but I figured I’d just do the main ones that would be seen the most on my rewrite.
Used Niobe and her father as the models for the Land variations since there are more differences in traditionally feminine and masculine clothing whereas for Sea Androsi clothing it’s all pretty homogeneous so I just used Aisha.
There is a type of gender binary present on Andros but it’s loose and anyone can wear anything regardless but the appearance of the clothing is typically used as an indicator of the wearer’s gender.
This one ended up being way more detailed than the other traditional wear for the other home worlds than, but more stuff just kept coming to me while I was drawing and who am I to deny the muses even if my wrists hurt😭
What the writing on the pages say below the cut!
First chunk of images are based on Land Androsi variations
First 2 images:
Furthest Inland Variants:
- loose clothing
- lots of geometric print
- big earrings
- flat shoes
- neckwear typical at all times
- head decor typically worked into hair
- Further inland variant has little change between traditionally femme and traditionally masc
- traditionally masc looks emphasize earrings over necklaces
General Land variations outside of furthest inland are next
On 3rd image:
- beadwork
- rectangular cloth cuts
- chunky beaded pieces
- barefoot common
- layered
- circular shaped headwear
- arm and leg pieces
4th image has no text, just an example of a more traditionally masc styled outfit following that general criteria
5th image:
- more animal hide on traditionally masc looks due to tradition from the past where heteronormative relationships were expected. Women would hunt and bring pelt to men to show they can provide. Beadwork more common on traditionally femme looks as gifts from men to show they can provide too.
- topless with large chest/neck adornment common style for everyone
6th image:
- animal hide used mostly for accent pieces in traditionally femme pieces with more beadwork present
The last on the Land Androsi variations are examples of Courtwear
7th image:
- overall, traditionally masc looks have more wrap around cloth and less pattern work
8th image:
- more beadwork, less metal overall for Land Androsi mainly due to less ore deposits being located further inland. Resulted in fashion proffering it more as smaller accent wear.
- more angular shapes more common on Land Androsi clothes
- circle gems/beads present on Land and Sea Androsi wear
- tear shape gems almost exclusively on Sea Androsi
About the diamond symbol with the circle and tear shape in the middle:
- an older symbol still used where the diamond represents the land surrounding the sea, which is the circle with the tear drop in the middle to emphasize that. For those on land, that is their whole world so they used to view it as the land encompassing the sea with land as the main body in the planet.
Sea Androsi variants next!
9th image:
-an example of a simpler look
- more shells common in this kind of look
- still more metals than Land Androsi variants typically, but less than other wealthier Sea Androsi looks. Hair is still usually very elaborate though as is present through all Sea Androsi styles
- symbol for the moons with the metal ring representing the bigger of the 2 moons and the empty space in it to represent the 2nd smaller moon.
Fun fact about it not featured on the page: sometimes the piece is one solid coin with a line etched into it so the same shape is present. Usually only Sea Androsi with more money have that though or there’s a few in a family handed down through the generations.
10th image:
- example of a more typical wealthier/court look
- lots of metal work
- pearls in abundance
- open shoulders
11th image:
General info:
- shells
- jewelwork
- more embroidery
- flowing cloth
- Earth equivalent of silks
- more detailed cloth printings and more pattern work
- ores and metals more common due to larger deposits of it surrounding shorelines
- almost always barefoot
- veils attached to headwear commonly
- lots of hanging head accessory pieces
- pattern work usually with softer line work
Additional info on this specific outfit:
- example of a wealthier look
- hat wear more common for wealthier outfits with veils/headscarves common of all classes though
12th image:
- example of a more Land/Sea “fusion” fit
- usually only reserved for the heirs and some of their advisors who are to act as an example on how to carry “both causes” equally
13th image:
- custom wear made of spindly metal work with pearls and jewels current fashion trend in court
- neck and arm work for this style is considered more masculine
14th image:
- corset style considered more feminine
- more she’ll motifs present in this style typically as well

Anhedonia
Pairing: Aemond Targaryen x nameless female character (third person perspective) Warnings: Canon typical sexism. Mentions of past trauma. Angst. Heavy Petting. Oral (m receiving). Smut. Word count: tbc
Summary: A young noblewoman's family have travelled to King's Landing for an upcoming tourney and are guests of House Targaryen. She is excited to explore the capital and all it has to offer, however, she finds herself dismayed when a certain Prince does not share her adventurous spirit. She makes it her mission to ensure he learns to appreciate the pleasures he considers to be "depravities". Based on this request.
Coming soon! Snippet below the cut.
Aemond sighs, closing his book and fixing her with a pointed stare. “What is it that you want exactly?”
She gives a gentle shrug of her shoulders, fingertips grazing over the smooth wood of the tabletop as she approaches him. “I thought we might be friends.”
“I don’t have friends.” He replies stiffly, reopening the tome in front of him and continuing to read.
“You must get lonely.” She watches the way his eye scans the page and smiles to herself. He isn’t really reading.
“No.” He doesn’t look up, keeping his focus firmly on the text.
“What are you reading?” She pulls out the chair next to where he sits at the head of the table and sits down.
“It wouldn’t interest you.” He says dismissively.
“Try me.” She stretches out her arms, gently drumming her fingers on the table.
He looks up then, annoyance pinching his angular features. “What do you mean?”
“Read it to me.” She fights the urge to laugh at the expression of horror that flashes across his face.
“Read to you?! Are you an infant?”
“I’m not going to leave you alone until you do, and it means you get to carry on with your book, so you might as well.”
He sighs, rolling his eye. “Fine, but I’m not starting from the beginning.”
She settles back in her chair as reads aloud, paying rapt attention to the way his brows raise for particular sentences, the way his lips shape around each word. His voice is soothing when he’s not being petulant. A warmth blossoms in her chest at how animated he becomes. It is a history book he reads to her from, and he is almost passionate in his delivery of every word. She has finally found common ground with Aemond, and perhaps the beginning of breaking down the walls which he has so steadfastly built up around him.

1337 – Day 4 – De Bellefaye Home
Mariora doesn’t know, and isn’t likely to ever find out, that her household isn’t the only one in which occasions that should be joyful are marred by grief at the premature passing of a loved one. Almost two years have passed since Annette’s death when her son Guillaume celebrates his sixth birthday, but although the family has learned to move forward, her absence still weighs on her husband and children. Or maybe it’s the fact that she should be there on that particular day that has them miss her so acutely.
Whatever the cause, feelings are mixed as the family – Alexandre, his daughters and his grandparents – gather to watch Guillaume blow out his birthday candles and officially pass from toddler to child. Alexandre doesn’t even consider letting his grandparents do the honours of picking him up and helping him, but immediately moves to do it himself. That is one thing that has improved: he isn’t as distant from his children anymore. Once his initial grief lessened, he finally started to realize that the girls and his son need him more than ever now. Not only have they lost their mother, but he is also the only parent they have left. He isn’t sure if the children have quite forgiven him for practically abandoning them in that difficult moment, but he has been trying his best to make it up to them.
Luckily, Guillaume doesn’t seem to care much at the moment – not while all the attention is on him and there are treats such as the cake now presented to him to look forward to. He doesn’t quite manage to blow out all six candles on his own, but Alexandre is only too ready to aid him.
He tries to focus on his boy’s excitement and the cheering of his girls right beside them, and not to think about his wife too hard. But he can’t help wondering what Annette would think now. He is sure she would be proud. Guillaume is their only son and his heir. With his brother vanished, possibly dead, his grandfather has declared him, Alexandre, his heir, and Guillaume is set to follow him.
He can see so much of Annette in the boy, too. The angular shape of his face and strong jaw are, without a doubt, a heritage of his mother’s family.
After the cake, there are gifts– toys and the like, including a wooden sword. With the de Bellefayes’ connections, it is not impossible to procure Guillaume a spot as a page somewhere, and Alexandre is strongly considering spending the next year finding his son one. Much as he would like to keep him home, knighthood could be an important stepping stone. He will already be inheriting land, but such an elevation would also bring him prestige.
If he were older, he might even gain renown on campaign in France, with hostilities now flaring. Rumours are that King Edward has already asserted his right to the French throne, derived through his mother, Isabelle de Valois, and that the French have invaded the English holdings on the continent. What is certain is that the King has started gathering money for a campaign. No one quite knows where all this will lead, but Alexandre strongly assumes that whatever conflict arises from this will be over by the time his son reaches his adolescence.
But there will be other wars to fight. He can’t imagine there ever coming the time where that won’t be the case.
Whatever the future holds for Guillaume, for now, he is only a boy excited to share his gifts with his sisters, particularly Juliana, who is older and therefore more useful than three-year-old Louise. If he were to play swords with his baby sister, he’d probably just end up hurting her, and then she’d start to cry, and he’d get a scolding. And he can really do without that.
Juliana is just as happy that her brother has grown old enough to properly play with. She doubts her great-grandmother would approve of her and her brother hitting each other with things, but she doesn’t need to know about it. She can be a lady at some other point, not when playing with her brother. And he deserves a good hitting for getting a so much more enjoyable birthday party than her.
All in good fun, of course. No jealousy involved at all.
Luckily, Guillaume doesn’t think too deeply about why his older sister is so enthusiastic about playing something that a well-bred girl usually shouldn’t want to do, but is simply pleasantly surprised that she agreed to test out his new toy with him. And to be fair, Juliana also just enjoys having a playmate. The opportunity to work off some resentment is merely an added benefit.

[Image shows a drawing of the green teletubby dipsy as Revenge-era Frank Iero. Dipsiero, as he will be called, has medium brown skin on his face and the insides of his ears, and green teletubby flesh all over the rest of his body, including on the straight antenna sticking out the top of his head. He has hair on the top portion of his head that hangs down in front of his eyes in floppy spikes, starting green at the roots and then quickly turning black. The lobes of his green ears appear to be stretched with black plugs. His face looks kind of surprised with an open mouth and raised eeybrows. There's red around his eyes and X's drawn across them. It should also be noted that I did not blend his skin well at all so that looks pretty weird. He's wearing a white collared shirt with the sleeves rolled to his elbows and a bright red tie. On his left bicep is a black band with little white L's going in a circle around the letters MCR written in red. He's holding a white electric guitar with a black neck and "tactical spider" written around the body as an artist signature. The guitar strap is also white and has TL for teletubby land written on it, as well as the letter T, for Tinky Winky, inside a scrawled, angular heart. Behind Dipsiero, the background is dark red, fading into grey and black on the bottom of the page. There's a light orange flame in the upper left-hand corner and two messily-drawn black buildings in the background. One has a spire and the other has been snapped, with the top half lying askew and the jagged edges just visible behind the teletubby. End ID]

Field study synopsis page
Title: A Field Study on Sentinel Ships
Abstract
This study examines the enigmatic Sentinel ships that patrol the stars. As an explorer and researcher, I have observed these vessels in various systems, documenting their behavior, technology, and potential origins. Whiterock aims to provide insight into their purpose and how their presence influences the galactic ecosystem.
Introduction
The Sentinels are an omnipresent force in the galaxy, serving as both protectors and enforcers of some mysterious universal order. Among their many manifestations, Sentinel ships represent a specialized fleet that enforces their strict protocols in space. While planetary Sentinels regulate activities on land, Sentinel ships respond aggressively to spacefaring violations, including unauthorized mining, piracy, or direct aggression. Understanding these entities is critical for survival and the development of diplomatic strategies.
Methods of Observation
Data for this study was collected through firsthand encounters with Sentinel ships. Observations were conducted from the cockpit of a heavily modified explorer class starship equipped with advanced scanners. Encounters ranged from non-hostile patrols to direct combat engagements in various star systems. I also analyzed debris from downed Sentinel ships to gain insights into their technology.
Findings
1. Appearance and Design
Sentinel ships are sleek and angular, often resembling predatory creatures. Their designs suggest a focus on both intimidation and aerodynamic efficiency. Each ship is equipped with glowing energy cores, which appear to serve as both power sources and weak points during combat.
2. Behavior and Tactics
Sentinel ships are not inherently hostile but become aggressive when they detect violations of their protocols. They often arrive in escalating waves, beginning with small interceptor craft and escalating to heavily armed frigates if resistance continues. Their tactics are highly coordinated, suggesting either centralized control or advanced AI algorithms governing their actions.
3. Technology and Composition
The debris of Sentinel ships reveals a blend of organic and mechanical components. Their technology seems to rely on a unique material known as Pugneum, which exhibits self-repairing properties. Advanced weapon systems, including pulse lasers and plasma cannons, make them formidable adversaries. Their materials suggest a level of technological sophistication far beyond most known species in the galaxy.
4. Purpose and Origins
The exact purpose of the Sentinel fleet remains speculative. Theories range from their role as enforcers of an ancient ecological balance to tools of a hidden creator species. Their presence in every system and their reaction to resource exploitation suggest a primary directive of maintaining order and preventing excessive disruption to galactic ecosystems.
Discussion
The Sentinels' spaceborne manifestations highlight a complex and potentially ancient system of governance within the galaxy. Their advanced technology and unyielding vigilance suggest they are not merely reactive but part of a broader, more purposeful network. Whether their goals align with the preservation of life or the suppression of unchecked expansion remains unclear.
Survival in their presence requires careful planning, from evasion strategies to targeted combat tactics. However, the possibility of deeper communication or diplomacy with the Sentinels could unlock secrets about the galaxy's true history and its hidden power structures.
Conclusion
The Sentinel ships are an enduring mystery, embodying the duality of order and destruction. While they are a source of peril for explorers, they also offer an opportunity for a deeper understanding of the universe's interconnected systems. Future research should focus on deciphering the origins of the Sentinels and uncovering their ultimate purpose in the galaxy.
Notes on Further Research
Continued studies on planetary Sentinels and Sentinel archives may provide additional context for their behaviors and objectives. Moreover, engaging with other explorers to compare encounters and findings could illuminate patterns in their deployment and actions across different regions of space.

Sooo I finally wrote a little bit (1.4K-ish) of that obikin poet au I talked about here. This takes place after their first meeting at the gala thingy. Hope y’all enjoy!!
Anakin’s weakness had always been older men with finely trimmed facial hair and an accent that could smack him five ways to Felucia.
It was the reason he’d nearly flunked out of Advanced Quantum Mechanics — come on, a guy could only hear ‘angular momentum’ drawled thickly so often before he blushed — and it was also the reason he found himself sitting in a crowded coffee shop across from Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Well, part of the reason anyway.
Padmé and Bail’s charity gala was a raving success, and somewhere along the way, Anakin’s cover story had gotten him roped into what Obi-Wan called a “Poetic Intervention”. Though his well coiffed auburn hair, immaculately trimmed beard, Coruscanti accent, and cute-as-a-button sweater vest sweetened the deal a tad, too.
That was how Anakin found himself sitting across from the man, an obviously well-read first edition collection of poems on the table between them. Poems Anakin was supposed to dislike even though he’d written them, but obviously Obi-Wan didn’t know that. So now he was trying to explain their merits to Anakin. It was all very convoluted and Anakin was doing his best not to think too hard about it.
“I just don’t see,” Obi-Wan huffed, turning the page to a new poem, “how you could dislike Lars’s work. That last one was one of his most acclaimed.”
It had been, Anakin acknowledged with a smug smirk into his mug. One of the first poems he’d ever written, nominated for a Coruscanti Literary Award no less, and he’d been three sheets to the wind after Padmé dumped him.
The heated ceramic warmed his hands, pleasant shivers zipping down his spine. He might’ve wanted to stay for hours if not for the fact that it was starting to feel a lot like work.
Anakin slouched back in his chair and shrugged. “Not sure what else there is to say that I didn’t say the other night. Poetry just isn’t my thing.”
Obi-Wan placed his palms on the tabletop, the distractingly enticing fingers of his left hand curling around the edge of the wood.
“Lars is for everyone. That’s what’s so enthralling about him. He tears away the veil from poetry that makes it seem so unattainable. He—he,” Obi-Wan picked up his right hand and waved it wildly in the air between them, dislodging a piece of styled coppery hair. “He deconstructs the stigma that poetry is only for scholars and laureates. He makes it relatable and simple, while maintaining the beauty and profoundness.”
After Professor Jinn’s lesson on poetry and its inaccessibility to the masses, when Anakin decided to write, he knew that’s what he wanted to accomplish. Of course, he couldn’t tell Obi-Wan that, but he really wasn’t interested in speaking at all, not with the dreamy look on the man’s face. The look of a man talking about something that really mattered to him. A smile that brought out a dimple in his cheek buried under his beard, and wrinkles around his ocean blue eyes.
And it was Anakin making him light up like that. Well, technically it was Rako Lars, but that was beside the point.
Instead of everything Anakin could have said, he went with, “I’m sure he’s great, but if I wanted to bore myself anymore I’d just go read Shakespeare.”
But all too quickly, Anakin realized his mistake. Obi-Wan’s eyes went wide, shimmering under the lamplight, a smile tugging at his lips.
“Actually, Shakespeare himself favored iambic pentameter, and it just happens that this poem,” he jabbed his index finger to the page, “is in the same meter.”
Anakin stared blankly at the page. He knew which poem it was. He desperately wanted to get up and leave, manners and Obi-Wan Kenobi be damned. But the way Obi-Wan was looking at him, tenderly peering at him through his round reading glasses, had him clearing his throat.
“Diamonds shine in the sky and on land too
Special unique flakes into white blankets
Though the sight evades, witnessed by a few
Falling rain its equal, both rare trinkets
Mother Nature’s beauty incomparable
Her golden gifts last for just a season
Her nest left empty for one more feeble
But even She grows weak without reason.”
Anakin looked up at Obi-Wan from underneath his lashes, and the man nodded for him to continue. He exhaled through his nose, brushing his index finger over the corner of the page.
“Twin suns set on the horizon daily
But the arid wind is full of silence
The absence of Her presence felt greatly
Time passes slowly in glum compliance
The chill and rain then stay away to weep
But they will meet again where all things sleep.”
Obi-Wan gazed at him expectantly. “What do you think?”
Anakin gulped, masking his discomfort by reaching for his near-empty mug. “It was fine I guess. It rhymed.”
The older man licked his lips, and Anakin tracked the motion shamelessly, though Obi-Wan didn’t notice. “Yes, exactly!” He shouted, wagging his finger in Anakin’s face.
“He uses basic end rhyming in the ABAB CDCD EFEF GG rhyme scheme.”
Anakin did his best to look confused and beyond help, but he was fairly sure he only managed to look constipated.
“What do you think this was about?”
He drew in a slow breath and blew it out his puffed cheeks and flicked his eyebrows up. “Beats me,” he said plainly, baring his hands palms-up.
“Well,” Obi-Wan sighed, rubbing his temples, “Rome wasn’t built in a day. Some scholars think this is no more than a clichéd attempt at representing the seasons.”
And they’d be wrong, Anakin thought darkly to himself, crossing his arms.
“I, however, disagree completely.”
“You do?” Anakin asked, unable to keep the genuine surprise and curiosity out of his voice.
Tendrils of steam whirled beneath Obi-Wan’s nose as he lifted his tea to his pursed lips, blowing over the surface to cool it. “We know frustratingly little about Lars. All anyone has been able to gather is that he comes from Tatooine, as parsed from the twin suns line.”
An error Anakin hadn’t caught until after he’d submitted it for publishing.
“So then what do you think he’s talking about?” Anakin asked, playing along, interested to see what conclusion this self-proclaimed Larsian had come to.
“Well,” Obi-Wan began, setting his cup down and slipping his hands into the pockets of his sweater vest. “The seasonal imagery, in my opinion, is just a metaphor. The diamond white blanket — clearly snow — and rain, both scarce and beautiful in a desert ecosystem. But what really catches my eye is Mother Nature.”
Obi-Wan’s hand reappeared, two fingers pushing his reading glasses back up his nose and then falling gently to the page, tracing an invisible line underneath the text.
“It is not new or profound to animate Mother Nature, to personify her. But I think what Lars is doing here is using her in place of someone important to him. See here—“ His finger hovered back and forth over the quatrain. Anakin felt his throat tighten with every word.
“Her golden gifts, an empty nest. Parenting — her child moving away. And the ending about sleep. A common euphemism for death. I think,” he stated, taking off his glasses and chewing on the end of an arm. “That this is a beautiful, haunting poem about grief.”
Anakin swallowed thickly. He’d never had someone perfectly analyze his work to him before, and not just because he actively tried to avoid it. So many people tried to make too much of it, to do exactly what Obi-Wan had said, tried to make some profound, grand statement out of his work. Mostly, Anakin wrote poems when he was drunk, when his mind was uninhibited, untethered from the baggage of his conscious mind. It allowed him to write about the world and experiences as he perceived them, and not through the lens of what others expected of him.
To have Obi-Wan cut to the heart of him so easily, so deeply, and thoroughly leave him raw in the best way was a feeling he could get addicted to. Anakin wanted to keep being exposed, have his layers peeled back like an onion. He wanted to take up all of Obi-Wan’s time, all of his attention. He wanted to hear what other insights the man had.
Maybe it was selfish and self-centered…yeah, definitely. But only a little. Mainly, Anakin just wanted to see him again.
He looked up and met Obi-Wan’s gaze with a soft smile. “I think I like yours better.”
Obi-Wan’s eyes lit up, and Anakin knew he’d let this man teach him knitting if it meant seeing his face like that.

#onthisday in 1940 the first bombing raid on Berlin, Germany of the Second World War by Bomber Command took place. Aircraft including Wellingtons, Hampdens and Whitleys took part.
Vickers Wellington | Classic Warbirds
During September 1932 the Air Ministry issued Specification B.9/32 which required an aircraft with a range of 720 miles and a bomb load of 1,000lb. Vickers design, initially known as the 271 would compete with Handley Page's H.P. 52 design, which would also be ordered into production as the Hampden. Vickers entry would be built using the geodetic construction method, which had first been used on the Vickers Wellesley, power would be supplied by a pair of Rolls-Royce Goshawk engines. This enabled a range of 2,800 miles and a bomb load of 4,500lb. More than four times the amount called for in the specification.
The prototype Wellington was ready by May 1936 and featured the fin and rudder of a Supermarine Stranraer and instead of Rolls-Royce engines, a pair of 915-hp Bristol Pegasus engines were installed. The 15th June 1936 would see Captain Joseph Summers at the controls as the new aircraft prototype made its maiden flight. Later that month, with the nose and tail cupolas of the aircraft covered, the Wellington appeared at the RAF Display, Hendon on the 27th June 1936. This was followed two months later on the 15th August by an order for one hundred and eighty Wellington Mk Is by the Air Ministry. These aircraft would be produced under a different Specification B.29/36, which required a more angular fuselage, the tail unit to be revised and hydraulic powered turrets in the nose, ventral and tail positions.
Testing of the new aircraft was initially done by Vickers before being flown to Martlesham Heath so the Aeroplane and Armament Experimental Establishment could conduct official trials. However as these trials concluded the prototype crashed on the 19th April 1937. The cause was found to be elevator overbalance in a high-speed dive. Despite this set back, development of the Wellington continued and before the year was out, on the 23rd December 1937, the first production Mk I flew. Although originally fitted with the Bristol Pegasus X engine, April 1938 would see the 1,050-hp Pegasus XVIII engine become the engine of choice for Wellington Mk I aircraft produced.

Deliveries of the Royal Air Force's new bomber began on the 10th October 1938, with No. 99 Squadron, RAF Mildenhall the first to receive the new type, with a crew of up to six people, a top speed of 245 mph and able to carry 4,500lb bombs over 1,200 miles, and by the time war broke out the following September a total of ten squadrons were equipped with the Wellington, two of which were reserve squadrons. With larger main wheels and the landing gear strengthened the Mk IA appeared. This new version also had its Vickers turrets replaced with Nash and Thompson ones. The Mk IC followed and this had its ventral turret removed in favour of either a Vickers 'K' or Browning machine-gun firing from the beam position on either side. The Wellington's bomb bay was also strengthen to allow the use of a 4,000lb bomb. Just under one hundred and fifty Mk ICs would be used as torpedo bombers.
With a pair of 1,145-hp Rolls-Royce Merlin X engines the Wellington Mk II appeared with a Mk I adapted to serve as the prototype. Making its maiden flight at Brooklands on the 3rd March 1939, this new version started to enter RAF service in October 1940.
Two Wellington Mk III prototypes were produced, the first was a converted Mk I fitted with Bristol Hercules HEISM engines, which made its maiden flight on the 19th May 1939, and the second was a Mk IC designed to take the 1,425-hp Hercules III engine, which flew in January 1941. In the end neither of these two engines were used when the Mk III went into production, with the 1-590-hp Hercules XI used. A new rear FN.20A turret was introduced to the aircraft which had four 0.303-in machine-guns, which was twice the existing armament.

The Mk IV followed and this was powered by a pair of 1,050-hp Pratt & Whitney Twin Wasp R-1830-S3C4-G engines, which had been ordered by France but not delivered and were consequently available for use.
As a result of Vickers being asked to investigate whether a Wellington could be fitted with a pressurised cabin for use as a high altitude bomber/Pathfinder, the Mk V & VI would be developed, at the same time, for this role. The Mk V would be powered by turbocharged Bristol Hercules VII engines and had a service ceiling of 36,800 ft, whilst the Mk VI was powered by 1,600-hp Merlin 60 engines and its service ceiling was 1,700 ft higher at 38,500 ft. Both aircraft featured a FN.20A turret positioned in the tail that could be remotely controlled. It was to be the Mk VI that was the preferred of the two, but only sixty four would be built, four of which served in the pathfinder role. However by this time the de Havilland Mosquito was in service and was used in the role instead.
The next intended Wellington was the Mk VII which was to be powered by a pair of Merlin XX engines, but this only reached the prototype stage. In the end the sole example was used by Rolls-Royce to develop their Merlin 60 engine.

Although Coastal Command had been using the type it wasn't until the production of the Mk GR.VIII that a variant of the Wellington was produced specifically for use within Coastal Command. Based on the Wellington Mk IC the aircraft was fitted with Air-to-Surface Vessel Mk II radar and some versions would have a Leigh Light installed in the ventral turret with the light operator positioned in the nose meaning this armament was removed.
The Wellington Mk X was the last bomber version built and also the most produced, with 3,803 rolling off the production line, with its roots in the Mk III the Mk X would be powered by a pair of either 1,675-hp Bristol Hercules VI or Hercules XVI engines. As well as serving with Bomber Command some would serve with Operational Training Units, and post-war a number would become T.10 crew trainers after conversion work undertaken by Boulton Paul. The Mk X would also provide the basis for the Wellington Mk GR.XI which would have the same engines as the Mk X and would serve with Coastal Command. These would have ASV Mk II radar installed at first before ASV Mk III radar replaced it and this would also equip the 1,735-hp Hercules XVII powered Mk GR.XII, which also featured a Leigh Light.
The Wellington would immediately see action the day after the Second World War (1939 – 1945) broke out, when on the 4th September 1939, alongside the Bristol Blenheim, they carried out the first raids on German territory by Bomber Command when they attacked German shipping at Brunsbuttel. The Wellington would operate during daylight as it was considered that by flying in tight formations its fire power would make them able to fend off attack successfully. However early raids showed that the defensive armament of six 0.303-in machine-guns, two in each turret located in the nose, ventral and tail positions were inadequate. As a result a gun was fitted in the beam position and the Wellington would now operate mainly at night.
The Wellington would play a big part in Bomber Command's early wartime operations. Major operations for the type saw it take part in the first raid on Berlin, Germany on the 25th August 1940 and drop the first 4,000lb 'Blockbuster' bomb on a raid over Emden, Germany on the 1st April 1941. At the height of its time with Bomber Command the Wellington made up 601 of the 1,047 aircraft for Operation Millennium when Cologne, Germany was attacked on the 30th May 1942. By the end of 1942 the Wellington's time as a frontline bomber was coming to an end as by now the four-engined heavy bombers that would form the backbone of Bomber Command from now on, the Avro Lancaster, Handley Page Halifax and Short Stirling, were now in service. The final time the Wellington would be used in major numbers by Bomber Command was on the 8th October 1943. There was still No. 300 Squadron using the type as 1944 got underway but they were only allowed to lay mines and attack minor targets. No. 192 Squadron would also keep using the aircraft for intelligence gathering into 1945.
The type would also serve with Coastal Command, which lead to perhaps one of the more unusual aircraft of the war. Appearing in 1940 with a metal ring under the fuselage, with the idea to detonate magnetic mines by use of a coil which created a field current.
As well as serving in Europe the Wellington would serve in the Middle East and Far East and would also be converted for transport and training duties. By the time the final Wellington, a Mk X, was delivered on the 25th October 1945, 11,461 had been produced and the type would serve until 1953 training pilots and navigators.
